The long-time native of LaHave was an avid golfer, community minded and loved helping others. Himmelman was honoured by the Nova Scotia government in 2010 when the new $3.5 million dollar ferry bearing his namesake was christened during a ceremony in July. Captain Himmelman is survived by his wife, Romona and four daughters.
