The South Shore Lumberjacks are riding high as of late.
They’re currently ranked as the tenth best Junior A club in the country according to the Canadian Junior Hockey League.
Lumberjacks coach and General Manager Kyle MacAllister says this is great news for the team.
“We’re very happy with where we’re at. As much as we had expectations I don’t know if you ever expect to have the sort of success we’re having now, but it’s always a pleasant surprise. But in a way we were always hoping for it in the first place.”
MacAllister hopes the recognition will help attract more high calibre talent to the league.
“It’s a feather in the cap to all the players and the organization to get that national recognition. It’s the first step in making kids that aren’t familiar with the South Shore or the Maritime League in general to see it as a destination.”
The Lumber Jacks will put their three game win streak on the line tonight as they face the Bearcats in Truro.
The puck drops at 7:00pm at the Rath Eastlink Community Centre.
