The future of the South Shore Lumberjacks looks promising.
The Junior ‘A’ hockey club selected forward Stephen Fox of the Cape Breton West Islanders first overall in Saturday’s Maritime Hockey League draft in Miramichi, New Brunswick.
In 38 regular games with the Islanders, the Antigonish native registered 36 points and also helped the team capture the Telus Cup title in late April.
The club also selected forward Ozzie King third overall from the Steele Subaru Major Midgets and physical defenceman Josh Nicholson eighth overall from the Halifax McDonalds.
Also, forward Vincent Rioux and defenceman Brian Grandy of the UPS Store South Shore Mustangs were drafted.
Rioux was selected in the first round, 12th overall by the Edmundston Blizzard while Grandy was chosen in the fifth round, 49th overall by the Valley Wildcats.
