A local group is looking to working to bring bus service to Lunenburg County.
Citizens for Public Transit pitched the idea to Lunenburg Council last night hoping to get a letter of support.
Norman Haslett is with the group and he says a bus would mean a lot to people without cars.
He envisions a route that would travel between Bridgewater and Mahone Bay, making regular stops at key points in the towns.
“That route takes about two hours. It’s a squeeze to do it in two hours. So within that day there would probably be five loops.”
He says the bus could be a huge asset for youth, seniors and the public at large.
“People will, if they don’t have the convenience or aren’t fortunate enought to own a car they make adjustments. That’s why three times a week service is very useful in small towns.”
Haslett says they’re working on getting grants to establish a trial service next summer.
