Lunenburg County Lifestyle Centre Deficit Above $800,000

It’s anything but a rosy picture for the Lunenburg County Lifestyle Centre.

The facility forecasting a deficit of $807,031 for this fiscal year.

Over the next three years, the LCLC is projecting deficits over $600,000.

However, General Manager Kevin Benjamin says it’s expected with a new facility.

“We’re entering our second full year of operation so we know there is still going to be growth. I can tell you that we are in line with the other new facilities in the province; the new facility in Truro and the new facility in Pictou are operating with very similar deficits.”

He feels an increase in memberships and off-ice attractions like concerts could help increase revenue.

Recent numbers indicate the LCLC has 783 members – while another 548 people decided not to renew memberships.

Benjamin says it’s an area they’re targeting to bring people back to the facility.
