Lunenburg County To Help With Dry Wells

Lunenburg County is working to help those without water.

Heather MacKenzie-Carey with the Lunenburg County Regional Emergency Management Organization says while towns within the county have an ample supply of water many in the rural areas are dealing with dry wells.

MacKenzie-Carey says REMO has worked to set up water refilling stations and free shower facilities for those in need.

“We’ve been able to fairly quickly put up some sort of things to help make life a little bit easier because of our ability to share resources between the municipalities.”

The Lunenburg County REMO are trying to determine how many people are dealing with a lack of water.

MacKenzie-Carey says they have established water refilling stations and free shower facilities around the county for those who don’t have other arrangements.

“So far it really looks like people have found ways of already coping with it and aren’t really relying on municipal supplies.”

MacKenzie-Carey says it’s a great example of “neighbour helping neighbour” with everyone pulling together to help out.
