The ribbon will be cut on the dog park in Lunenburg.
The Lunenburg Dog Park Society will mark the official opening on September 5.
President Karen Lewis says it’s been two and a half years in the making.
“We signed the lease back in 2013, took possession September 1. September 2014 we opened up the large dog section and now, September 2015, we’re opening up the smaller dog section.”
Lewis says there are some 13,000 dogs in Lunenburg County.
She says they are all welcome to use the park.
Meanwhile, the official dog park opening in Lunenburg will be a community celebration.
The town crier will read a proclamation and the mayor will cut the ribbon.
Rachel Bailey says the park is a great addition.
“The dog park opening is an exciting development for the town and it’s been in operation for quite some time now but they’ve been continually working on it and making improvements.”
There will also be live music.
The park is located on Starr Street in the town.
