Lunenburg On Short List Of Canada’s Top Destinations

Lunenburg’s secret is out.

USA Today has included the UNESCO world heritage site in a list of places vying to be among the best destinations in Canada.

Lunenburg resident Cheryl Lamerson has been encouraging people to get out and vote.

“Toronto, Montreal, Ottawa and Vancouver are also nominated. They’re huge. So when it comes to voting, small-town, grass-roots, community spirit – I bet you can do well.”

Lamerson feels a win would not only be good for Lunenburg, but for the entire South Shore..

“When you attract people to Lunenburg, they don’t just parachute in. They fly in to Halifax or they take the ferry across. I look at it as, you’re attracting to the area. Everybody wins.”

Lamerson has been using Facebook to help get out the vote before the contest closes on June 19th.

She says you can vote once a day from each of your devices whether by phone, tablet or computer.

Lunenburg currently sits in third, and Lamerson would love to see people rally to get it into first.
