Lunenburg Opens Up Town For 264th Birthday

Lunenburg will be celebrating its 264th birthday this week.

Events are planned throughout the town including numerous open houses at museums and area businesses, a rum and chowder social, and the 5km muffin run.

Mayor Rachel Bailey says the annual event is a chance to highlight all the town has to offer.

“So much to see and do here in the town of Lunenburg that sometimes when you’re really close to the action, you take it for granted or don’t always take advantage of the opportunities that are at your doorstep.”

Bailey says the weekend isn’t just about history.

“There really is, I think, something for everyone. Although that’s cliche to say, I think, if you go through the list, there’s such a variety of things to do that I’m sure everyone can find something that they’ll really enjoy to see and do in Lunenburg.”

A schedule of events is available here.

Open houses start tomorrow morning and a bike rodeo will get the kids involved at the community centre in the afternoon.
