The Mahone Bay Centre has been given some support to fix up the 100 year-old structure. MP Gerald Keddy has announced nearly $30,000 to help the former school with some fix-up work. The money will support renovations, including replacement of a flat roof, refurbishment of the front stairs and ceiling restoration in two rooms. Chair of the Mahone Bay Society, Michael Saker says the rennos are needed and will ensure the building will remain a valued part of the community. The Mahone Bay Centre first opened as a school in 1914. It was transformed into a community and arts centre in 2001. The centre is used for educational programming, drawing, printmaking and painting sessions. (Photo: Mahone Bay Centre web site)
