Mahone Bay has had a big year.
After more than a decade of planning, four wind turbines have been built in Hants County.
The 9.2 megawatt project is in partnership with Berwick and Antigonish.
The farm is the first to be funded without help from the province or Nova Scotia Power.
Mayor Joe Feeney says it’s about more than environmental sustainability.
“Next year we’ll make a profit on the investment,” he says, “and we’ll give the profit back to the tax payers by fixing a street, or building new sidewalks, or whatever the case may be.”
Feeney says the project was about six weeks behind schedule but finished under budget.
The total cost was around $24.5-million.
