Mahone Bay Takes Initial Step In Developing A Sea Water Flood Prevention Plan

The process has begun in at least one South Shore community with the aim of preventing rising sea levels from overcoming the town.

An engineering firm has outlined what its found in a study of the coastal area around Mahone Bay.

Mayor Joe Feeney says last night’s meeting in the town sought public opinion which will now be digested by Halifax-based CBCL and a report sent back later.

The Mayor says they will likely say: “Here are some things that we believe should be included in your plan and here is, in our opinion, the best way to achieve the desired results.”

Mayor Feeney says it will take a lot of money from higher levels of government to develop flood prevention infrastructure.

He says though, thats a considerable distance in the future.
