Mahone Bay will be looking back in time as they host the Heritage Boat Yard Co-Op Weekend.
It’s a chance to explore the rich boatbuilding history of Mahone Bay.
The event will be raising money to build an Interpretive Centre near the visitor’s centre.
Peter Redden is one of the co-ordinators of the weekend.
He says this is a great chance for people to learn more about their town.
“I’d like them to come away with the sense of the history of our town and just have fun looking at the model boats in the show.”
Redden says he hopes people will be inspired by the models.
“Great place to go and get introduced to where you buy supplies, techniques if you’re trying to build a boat by yourself on your own.
It’s sort of a model show for model builders.”
Among other events, the Heritage Boat Yard Co-Op Weekend will feature music, lectures and a beer tasting.
The weekend kicks off 10:00 Saturday morning with the model boat show at St. James Anglican Church Hall.
