Man dead, woman critically injured following crash in Martins River

A 29-year-old man is dead and a 23-year-old woman has suffered life-threatening injuries following a single-vehicle crash in Martins River.

Lunenburg District RCMP say emergency crews responded to the crash on Highway 3 at approximately 4:25 p.m. on Friday, October 30.

When officers arrived, they learned a Hyundai Elantra had left the road, entered a wooded area and caught fire.

The driver, a 29-year-old man from Cambridge, was pronounced dead at the scene.

His passenger, a 23-year-old woman from Torbrook, suffered life-threatening injuries and was transported to hospital by EHS LifeFlight.

RCMP have not provided an update on the woman’s condition.

Highway 3 was closed for several hours while an RCMP collision reconstructionist examined the crash scene.

Police say the investigation remains ongoing.
