Man, Dog Escape House Fire In East Chester

A tragic way to start off the new year for an East Chester man.

Firefighters from five departments responded to a house fire on Buccaneer Road around 2:30 on New Year’s Day morning.

They include Chester, Chester Basin, Hubbards, Blandford and Western Shore.

Chester Fire Chief Dave Richardson says the house was fully involved when he arrived on scene.

He says the house is a total loss.

The homeowner and his dog made it out of the burning structure safely.

Richardson says he believes the cause may have been by a wood stove.
