Master of Darts: New Ross Man Competing Against World’s Best

A New Ross man is preparing to go toe-to-toe with some of the best dart players in the world.

Sheldon Fudge qualified for the World Masters dart tournament after finishing fifth at the Canadian Championships in Saint John, New Brunswick in June.

The 55 year-old will compete in his first overseas tournament September 25-28 in Bridlington, England.

“My first goal is to not get totally blanked out over there and not win any games. If things go well then we’ll just see where it goes. Of course, you’d like to win it.”

Fudge says he looks forward to representing Nova Scotia and Canada on the world stage.

“It’s always an honour and a pleasure to represent your province. This is just icing on the cake as far as enjoying the game of darts and the challenges that go with it.”

Fudge has played on team Nova Scotia for the past eight years, helping the Bluenosers win the Canada Cup in 2016 and this year.

He says he’s excited for the opportunity and the challenge of playing people from across the globe.

Nearly 300 people are competing in the tournament.
