Mayor Hopes To See More From Lunenburg Opera House

Rachel Bailey hopes to see the Opera House continue as an arts hub in Lunenburg.

The town’s mayor was reacting to the news the historic building is up for sale.

Bailey recognizes the effort owner Farley Blackman put in to the restoration.

“It was in very poor condition when he took ownership of it and he put a great deal of time, and I think, heart into the building to restore it,” said Bailey. “It was a labour of love. There wasn’t, sort of a great business case I’m sure for him for buying the building. It’s wonderful that he had the resources to put into the building and bring it back.”

The mayor says no one has approached the town to look for financial help for the Opera House.

But she says they don’t have the capacity to offer financial support at this time.
