Michelin Expecting Natural Gas Conversion By Early December

Michelin in Bridgewater will soon adapt to a new fuel source. The company expects to convert the plant to natural gas by early December – along with its facility in Waterville. Spokesperson Deborah Carty says it allows them to reduce their carbon dioxide emissions and remain competitive in their industry. She says they needed to change after fuel oil was discontinued from their supplier in Eastern Passage. She says, “This will allow us better access to energy and allow us to have that assurance that we can run 24 hours a day, seven days a week as usual.” Irving Oil will supply the natural gas to the Bridgewater and Waterville plants. A receiving station is being set up on Logan Road near the local Michelin facility.
