Minister, Politicians Meet To Discuss Shelburne ER Closures

People will protest ER closures in Shelburne this afternoon.

The province’s health minister will meet with local politicians to discuss the crisis at Roseway Hospital.

There have been dozens of emergency department closures in the past few months.

Town of Shelburne Mayor Karen Mattatall says they are looking for answers.

“Why are there nursing shortages? Why are they not hiring enough nurses at Roseway Hospital to ensure there is a nurse there, so that an ER doctor can work?”

People are expected to gather and hold a peaceful protest before the meeting.

It begins at 3 p.m. at Shelburne town hall.
