The Municipality of the District of Lunenburg is adopting a new sustainability initiative that will see all single-use bottled water eliminated from use at events.
The idea is to cut down on the amount of plastic bottle waste.
Mayor Don Downe wants everyone should consider town tap water and refillable bottles instead.
“We are setting a good example in our own building. There are no more single-use water bottles being used. We have water fountains. The water in the fountain is hooked up to quality town water that meets the highest of standards.
He encourages people join council in their campaign to reduce their carbon footprint.
