The Municipality of Lunenburg is hopeful they’ll start construction on their new administrative building by June.
In a recent council meeting the municipality awarded the tender for phase one of construction to Dexter Construction to the tune of $305,550.
Dexter will be in charge of of the ground work and making sure the area is stable to support the building.
Mayor Carolyn Bolivar-Getson says she’s pleased with Dexter’s bid.
“We’re very glad to see that it came in under the budgeted amount that we had allowed for this by nearly $100,000 so that is really good news.”
Bolivar-Getson says they expect work to start quickly and be done within six weeks.
“There will be movement of soil from the back side to the front and there will be fill that will be brought in as well, some rock to make sure of the stabilization.”
Bolivar-Getson says the municipality and design team will soon be ready to put the construction of the building out to tender.
The hope is to have construction started by June and finished by March 2020.
