MODL Declines Additional Skatepark Funding Request From Bridgewater

Bridgewater will have to look elsewhere for more skatepark funding.

The town requested an additional $100,000 from the Municipality of the District of Lunenburg.

The request was made after the tender to begin building the park came in over budget.

But, municipal council voted unanimously against it after already contributing $80,000 to the project.

Mayor Carolyn Bolivar-Getson says they have other recreational projects to consider.

“There’s only so many resources to go around and at this point this is what council has decided they can afford to put in this facility.”

Bolivar-Getson says council may reconsider the request during their next budget deliberations.

More than $400,000 has been committed for the $645,000 project.
