MODL To Host Straight Pipe Public Meetings

The Municipality of Lunenburg is looking to educate people about the straight pipe problem along the Lahave.

Four public meetings will be held this month to raise awareness about possible solutions.

Deputy CAO Alex Dumaresq says ultimately it will require teamwork.

“It really comes down to shared responsibility,” he says. “Not any one stakeholder in this can solve it all by themselves.”

Dumaresq says all three levels of government along with property owners will need to work together to see a quantifiable difference in the amount of pollution contaminating the water.

But, he adds some newly approved septic systems make it easier to replace straight pipes.

The first meeting goes tonight in the Lahave Fire Hall at 7 p.m.

Other meetings:

Monday April 18 at the Conquerall Bank Fire Hall 7p.m.

Tuesday April 19 at the Dayspring Fire Hall 7p.m.

Tuesday April 26 at the Riverport Community Centre 7p.m.
