The Municipality of Chester will be making an appearance at an upcoming joint meeting between four Lunenburg County communities.
The Towns of Bridgewater, Mahone Bay, and Lunenburg along with the Municipality of Lunenburg have agreed to get together.
The gathering has been billed as a discussion about a proposed amalgamation study.
However, Warden Allen Webber says that’s not why they’re going.
“Well I’m hoping that isn’t the entire focus,” he says. “I guess I would have to state the formal position of the Municipality of Chester is that we are not interested in amalgamation discussions.”
Webber says they hope to participate in a more general discussion including shared services.
The meeting was suggested after the governance steering committee couldn’t come to an agreement about the parameters of the study.
Discussions stalled a few weeks ago when some felt other options should be researched as well.
A date for the meeting has not been set.
