Municipalty Of Chester Gives $2,000 To Garden Group

A community group in Chester got more than they were expecting yesterday.

Friends of Nature asked council for a $2,000 municipal grant for upgrades to local garden.

Chair, Syd Dumaresq says he was expecting them to take several weeks to consider the request.

It was approved on the spot.

The Hasee Garden was built in honour of Rudy Hasee who founded the group in 1954.

Dumaresq says they’d like to make sure Hasee gets a chance to see the finished project.

“What’s really important to me is Rudy is 94,” he says, “and I really want to have this happen while he’s still alive.”

He says they plan to get to work as soon as possible.
