There is no way anyone who caught even 2 minutes of last night’s American Presidential debate was inspired no matter which candidate you favour.
So to balance the scales, I thought I’d list some of the people I find inspiring. And that doesn’t mean I totally agree with any of their messaging. It’s just that these people for various reasons inspire me to be a better person and a better citizen, whether we’re talking globally, nationally or provincially.
First on the list is 94 year old Sir David Attenborough for his natural history documentaries about life on our planet. And for his answer this week to an interviewer’s question, “What one choice would he like people to make?” .. here’s his answer… don’t waste… don’t waste anything… electricity, food, power, treat the natural world as if it is precious which it is… don’t squander those bits of it that we have control of.
Others who inspire me include David Suzuki, Greta Thunberg, Terry Fox and Rick Hansen.
And there is one politician who inspires me thanks to his almost daily Facebook posts which I find informative and uplifting, and that’s the mayor of Bridgewater David Mitchell. I don’t live in the town, nor do I know his politics, but I just like his posts which help me maintain an even keel as we go through this pandemic.
You may have a family member, be it a partner, parent, child or perhaps a neighbour who inspires you so tell me, who inspires you?
