New Forest Fires Burning In Queens, Shelburne

The Department of Natural Resources says several new forest fires have been reported in Nova Scotia.

Crews are hoping to have a fire contained in Ten Mile Lake in Queens tonight.

It has burned eight hectares of land.

In Shelburne County, 2.5 hectares of woods has burned after fire was noticed between Clyde River and Beaverdam.

Officials are also hoping to have it contained tonight.

Meanwhile, the fire at Seven Mile Lake in Annapolis County is still not contained.

It saw limited growth today as crews had success in building fire breaks in strategic areas.

Trunk 8 in Maitland Bridge remains closed due to heavy smoke.

Five other fires across the province have been contained.

A statement by DNR says a 20 person firefighting team from New Brunswick is expected to arrive Wednesday to help where needed.
