The mother of a New Germany woman recovering from double lung transplant surgery calls it a small miracle.
Jennifer Crouse has Cystic Fibrosis and moved to Toronto in April.
For the last two weeks she was on full life support, paralyzed and sedated at Toronto General Hospital waiting for the lungs.
Vicki Crouse says her daughter had successful surgery on Wednesday morning.
“She can open her eyes, she’s squeezing our hands. We mentioned her nephew, Adrian, and a big smile came over her face.”
Crouse says Jennifer still has a long road to go with the possibility of infection or her body rejecting the lungs.
She will remain in hospital for at least another month and may have to continue living in Toronto until next spring.
A gofundme page continues to accept donations while local fundraisers have been set up to help.
