New Hantsport Councillor Wants The Town To Withdraw Dissolution Application

A newly-elected town councillor is continuing his mission to reverse a decision to dissolve Hantsport’s town status. A loss of industries and a lower tax base have forced the town to apply to the utility and review board for dissolution. However, Phil Zamora says the town can survive and thrive by getting involved in the tidal power industry for one. He also says: “I feel that the spinoffs from tidal power are going to benefit Hantsport greatly and we want to have our own authority so we can make our own decisions locally.” Zamora says he first has to convince fellow councillors to withdraw the application from the UARB. He says Hantsport should be promoted as a good place for small business to set up shop. Phil Zamora will be sworn in November 4th.
