New Owner Of Greek’s Quality Meats Passes Away

Just five months after taking over Greek’s Quality Meats, the establishment’s new owner has passed away.

Gary MacNeil died unexpectedly July 16.

The 60-year-old Molega Lake man had moved back to the South Shore after working in Alberta for years.

Retirement didn’t suit him and MacNeil purchased Greek’s from its former owner Richard Greek, whose family made puddings and sausages for decades.

He promised Greek he’d keep the name and it’s traditions going.

Yesterday MacNeil’s family made a statement on the business’ Facebook page to assure customers they were commited to keeping his vision for the business alive.

He’s being remembered for his involvement in his community and his desire to make a difference.

MacNeil loved hockey – he played for years and was involved the Gordie Howe CARES Pro-Am Hockey organizations.

He ran for mayor, took part in ox pulls at the South Shore Exhibition, and was a 42-year member of the legion.

MacNeil’s funeral will be held Monday at 2 p.m. at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Bridgewater.
