The original Caledonia Post office is officially nothing more than a fond memory.
Canada Post officially cut the ribbon on their new space yesterday.
Postmaster Geraldine Crouse says it will be an asset to the community.
“It means for us job security,” she says. “It means a service going forward for this community, and when you see so many rural communities losing service, we’re maintaining a service.”
Structural issues with the former building, built in 1959 meant it was no longer usable.
Crouse says the brand new facility is evidence that the federal government still cares about rural communities.
