New Resource To Help People Through Cancer Journey

A new resource is available for cancer patients and their loved ones.

The Journey Room is a place for families to receive therapy and support while they fight the deadly disease.

It officially opened Friday following roughly five months of construction and renovations at South Shore Regional Hospital in Bridgewater.

Arleen Stevens, Managing Director of the Health Services Foundation says sometimes caregivers need as much support as patients.

“It’s not only for the patients,” she says, “but, all the individuals who come with them as they’re going through their cancer care here at South Shore Regional Hospital.”

The room will be open three days a week but Stevens says she like to see those hours expand.

She says they’d also like to add things like art therapy and Yoga.

The foundation raised $230,000 to renovate the room and support cancer care in the South Shore.
