In small communities from New Brunswick to Newfoundland & Labrador, temporary foreign workers from the Philippines, Romania, and elsewhere are working service industry and labouring jobs, and celebrated Newfoundland author Michael Crummey is working on a film with the National Film Board about their stories.
The film will follow the workers, why they came here, and the families they’ve left behind.
It’s expected to be released in 2015.
Crummey is best known for his novels including Galore, River Thieves, and most recently Sweetland.
