Newly-Renovated Clark’s Harbour Elementary School Officially Opens

An amalgamation of two schools in Shelburne County is complete.

The newly-renovated Clark’s Harbour Elementary School officially opened this week.

The $5-million project includes additions including three classrooms, a music room, and a larger gymnasium.

There was also $35,000 raised by the community to upgrade the school’s playground and make it wheelchair accessible.

Principal Lesley Smith says they’re delighted to be in one building.

“It was a wonderful completion of what has been a long process that’s finally brought students of Cape Sable Island School and Clark’s Harbour School together under one roof.”

The town of Clark’s Harbour provided three parcels of land, at no cost, to expand the size of the school.

About 190 students have been attending classes since September.
