No Parking On Chester Basin Wharf

The Chester Basin Wharf is off limits to vehicles.

An assessment of the timber section of the wharf shows deterioration and it’s no longer able to handle a vehicles weight.

Sixty-five thousand dollars has been committed to repair the exterior of the wharf, but Warden Allen Webber says it won’t last forever.

“At some point in time,” he says, “and this is several years away, we’ll have to decide is it significant enough that it requires a re-build? Or do you just restrict access even further.”

Webber says the current repairs should buy them another five years.

Vehicles will need to continue to park on nearby land unless the municipality decides to invest in a complete rebuild of the structure..
