Nova Scotia Boatbuilders Association receives $366,000 to promote local companies

The province is helping Nova Scotia’s shipbuilders reach new markets.

They’re providing $366,000 to the Nova Scotia Boatbuilders Association to help promote local companies at industry trade shows, in trade publications, through online communications and through strategic partnerships.

The money is being provided through the Community Economic Development Fund.

MLA Colton LeBlanc said Nova Scotia’s shipbuilders are known for their skill, quality and innovation.

“By building up Nova Scotia’s boatbuilding sector, we are helping these businesses reach new markets, win new work and create good jobs,” said LeBlanc. “The success of our province’s boatbuilders will strengthen coastal communities, support industries such as fisheries and aquaculture, and contribute to economic growth and prosperity across our entire province.”

The province says the funding will help strengthen support for local boatbuilders and increase their ability to deliver on national defence priorities, and that the increased capacity provided by the funding will help Nova Scotia’s boatbuilders compete on the international market.
