Nova Scotia Gas Prices To Fall at Midnight Says Analyst

Expect another drop in gas prices tomorrow.

The province’s Utility and Review Board sets the prices at midnight tonight.

Senior petroleum analyst Dan McTeague with Gas Buddy Dot Com encourages motorists in the Tri Counties and South Shore to wait until after midnight to fuel up.

‘An educated guess puts gas prices dropping at least 5.8 cents a litre at midnight tonight. You’ll be seeing prices moving down to the $1.10.2 to %1.10.5 mark.”

McTeague is very critical of the U-R-B’s policies.

He says the decreases that we’ll see at midnight happen in just about every unregulated market in Eastern Canada and the Eastern U-S.

” It means that you’ve had a hold back. I was a little annoyed that the regulatory board there didn’t give the full decrease last week until very much until they had to. It does how that prices changes are very much based on whim. Consumers had to fork out, for at least two or three days last week, an additional 8.5 cents a litre. By my calculations average use in a week is 60 litres, that’s an extra $5 out of the pockets of average Nova Scotians because of that whimsical decision. It’s the same thing this week. I suspect the Board is given to rule of thumb as opposed to better regulation.”
