Nova Scotia’s Lieutenant-Governor is once again putting the call out for submissions to the Community Spirit Award.
Last year’s winning communities included Big Tancook Island and West Pubnico.
A selection committee chooses the winners based on a community’s citizen engagement and civic pride.
Having a positive outlook on your community’s future is also a factor.
Lieutenant Governor Arthur J. LeBlanc says he’s been impressed with the ‘tremendous’ civic pride he’s witnessed while traveling the province.
The awards were established in 2007 by then Lieutenant-Governor Mayann Francis to celebrate strength and diversity of Nova Scotian communities.
Up to four communities can be honoured.
The deadline to submit an application is May 31.
