More help is on the way for community and sponsor groups who are helping refugees.
The Nova Scotia government is creating a new fund that will provide grants up to $1,000.
It will help groups offer a number of initiatives including neighbourhood gatherings or cooking classes.
The fund also supports honorariums for volunteers like interpreters, language instructors and co-ordinators who have worked hard to help.
More than 1,000 refugees from Syria are now living in Nova Scotia including many here in the South Shore.
One hundred thousand dollars has been set aside for the new fund.
