NS Mental Health Services Being Questioned

Mental health services are being called into question in light of a recent incident in the Annapolis Valley.

A man was discharged from the mental health unit at the Valley Regional Hospital in Kentville and ended up walking 15km in his sock feet to get home.

Tory Health Critic Chris d’Entremont says he was shocked to hear.

“Emergency rooms are overcrowded. They taking too long to identify the patients. Mental health services has always had a problem in really identifying patients correctly.”

d’Entremont says there should be a policy ensuring family members can pick up a patient before being discharged.
