NS Transportation Dept. Studying Lunenburg County Ferry Fares

Nova Scotia’s Minister of Transportation says he’s looking more closely at recently announced increases in fares aboard Lunenburg County ferries.

During the Legislature’s Question Period, Geoff MacLellan said options are being discussed aimed at softening the blow.

“We’re looking at those options for an annual pass to see what we can do for payments to ease the annual number overall.”

A protest was held last week over the increased rates on the LaHave ferry.

The cost of 10 tickets has gone from $13.50 to $35.

The minister says the fares aboard the Tancook Island ferry are also being re-examined.
