The Governor General’s Academic Medal at the Nova Scotia Community College’s Lunenburg Campus has been awarded to a business administration student. Elaina Varner was named the recipient of the honour after she achieved the highest academic standing in a college diploma program. The local campus held its annual student awards celebration Monday night. Other awards were presented to Blair DeBaie. He won the Board of Governor’s award for outstanding academic achievement while contributing to campus and community activities. Alex Peeler won the NSCC Foundation award for outstanding academic achievement while making a difference in other people’s lives. Angela Conrad was honoured with the President’s Award while Melissa Demone won the Nova Scotia Community College Gold Medal. Both awards given to people with high academic standing.
