NSLC Reports Drop In Sales Through First Quarter

First quarter sales for the Nova Scotia Liquor Corporation were down compared to the last fiscal year.

In a release, the NSLC says total sales were $156.8 million, a drop of $1.9 million compared to the same time frame, April 1-July 1 of last year.

Earnings were down $1.7 million, to $59 million.

The corporation says changes to net income are a result of the Easter holiday weekend being included, and the preparation for the retailing of recreational cannabis.

President and CEO of NSLC Bret Mitchell says they expected a decline, but they are performing ahead of plan for the first quarter.

He says sales increased as the quarter progressed, and they are optimistic that they’ll meet year-end forecasts.
