NSP Storm Response To Be Reviewed, Utility Welcomes It

A priority review is being done on Nova Scotia Power’s response to post-tropical storm Arthur. Premier Stephen McNeil says his government and the province’s Utility and Review Board have agreed to complete the review. The Liberal government has asked the scope of the investigation to include storm preparedness, staffing levels, vegetation management, state of transmission and distribution infrastructure and inbound and outbound communications. The Utility and Review Board will release information about its process next week. The president and CEO of Nova Scotia Power says they welcome the review. Bob Hanf says it’s appropriate given the impact of the storm and the number of Nova Scotians who were affected. The power company has had over 700 people working on power restoration efforts since last Saturday. They are also planning to send power crews to New Brunswick to help restore power in that province.
