It is with heavy hearts that the family of Eric William Keddy, 74, of Barss Corner and Fraxville, Lunenburg Co., announces his passing at the Fishermen’s Memorial Hospital Hospice unit on Thursday, April 23, 2026.
Born in Fraxville, he was the son of the late Benjamin and Hazel (Hiltz) Keddy.
Eric worked in forestry, but mostly in the Christmas tree industry all his life. He was a man who loved music and had the knack of striking up a conversation with whoever he met.
Eric was survived by daughter, Lisa (Debbie), Ontario; son, Scott (David), Bridgewater; brothers, Donald Keddy (Christine “Chris” Robar), John Keddy (Elaine Levy); sisters, Shirley Millett, Ethel Feener (Llewelyn Lenihan), all of New Ross; Dorothy Caldwell, Windsor; Gloria Hughes-Legge, New Albany, Evelyn Johnson, Paradise; sister-in-law, Marilyn Keddy, Cookville; several nieces and nephews; extended family members, Melissa Morton, Michelle Morton and Theresa Joudrey.
He was predeceased by his common-law wife, Sheila Fralic; brother, Cecil Keddy and Garnet Keddy.
The family would like to thank the staff at South Shore Regional Hospital, Bridgewater and the Hospice Unit of Fishermen’s Hospital, Lunenburg, for all of their wonderful care.
Visitation will be held 6-8 p.m., Wednesday, April 29, 2026, with funeral service being held 2 p.m., Thursday, April 30, 2026, in Sweeny’s Funeral Home, 4895 Highway 10, New Germany, with Lay Minister Elsie Hiltz officiating. Burial to follow in the Barss Corner Community Cemetery, Barss Corner. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Canadian Cancer Society, South Shore Hospice Society or a charity of choice.
