Joel Berman Tidd

TIDD, Joel Berman – Joel passed quietly at Ryan Hall, Bridgewater, on August 6th, 2026, at the age of 65. Joel was born in Yarmouth on August 18th, 1960. He was the second of six children of Rev. Perley and Marlene Tidd.

Joel was a kind soul who would literally give the shirt off his back to anyone in need and was a great supporter of many charities for the less fortunate. Joel was a friend to everyone he knew.

He lived many places in Nova Scotia, New Brunswick and Ontario, as the son of a Baptist minister who was constantly on the move. Joel graduated from high school in Port Hawkesbury, Nova Scotia and attended community college in Fredericton, New Brunswick. He was a carpenter by trade but his love for science led him return to school and became a Power Engineer for NB Power. He worked on many alternate power generation theories during his lifetime. He was usually the smartest person in the room everywhere he went.

Joel lived in Bridgewater for about 30 years and was very happy to be near his family. He lived a very quiet life, never married or had any children. The pursuit of scientific knowledge was his focus, and he wrote many papers that were submitted to universities for their use. He could usually be found working at his computer with music playing in the background, putting his ideas on paper to be shared with others.

Joel was predeceased by his parents and younger brother, Aaron. He is survived by his brothers, Stephen and Andrew, and sisters, Joanna and Florence. There will be a private family Graveside service at the Barss Corner Cemetery, in the near future. Joel will be missed by everyone who knew him and our hearts will be with him forever.

Memorial donations may be made to charities of your choice. Arrangements entrusted to Sweeny’s Funeral Home, Bridgewater.

“We love you Joel, thank you for being our brother.”
