FORWARD, John “Johnny” Joseph – Age 59 of Bridgewater, passed away in Fisherman’s Memorial Hospital, in the Hospice Care Unit. He was a son of the late, Raymond and Melissa (Wheeler) Forward.
Johnny is survived by brothers, Wade (Stephanie) Forward, Baker Settlement, Rodney (Christine) Forward, Oak Hill; nieces, Jacqueline and Sabrina Forward; nephews, Jordan and Ryan Forward; great-nieces, Peyton, Penny and Madison Forward; and great-nephews, Ashton Hubley and Mason Forward. Besides his parents, Johnny was predeceased by brothers, Paul and Greg “Bumper” Forward.
Johnny worked at the Bridgewater IGA for many years and was a custodian for the South Shore Regional School Board, up until his health declined in 2021. Johnny was a gentle soul who loved his family and friends. He liked collecting hockey cards, coins and decorative plates. Johnny was a talker and loved talking about the old days, and what was going on in the trailer park. He could be seen going on his scooter wide open to the local grocery stores.
Johnny made many friends over the course of his life and enjoyed seeing each and everyone to catch up on old times. He was dedicated to his AA meetings where he found joy in helping people. Johnny lived a quiet life, never really bothering anyone, but he was always there to help someone in need.
A Celebration of Life for Johnny will be held Wednesday May 20th, 2026, at 1 pm, in Sweeny’s Funeral Home, Bridgewater, with a private interment in Brookside Cemetery following the service. Donations in his memory may be made to the Bridgewater Iner-Church Foodbank or Souls Harbour Bridgewater. Arrangements entrusted to Sweeny’s Funeral Home, Bridgewater.
The family would like to extend their appreciation to the girls from V.O.N. and home care, and a special Thank-You to the staff in the Fishermen’s Hospice unit who went above and beyond to care for him. Johnny loved you all.
