Mary Elaine Fultz

Age 72, of Bridgewater, Lunenburg Co., passed away peacefully surrounded by her family at the South Shore Regional Hospital, Bridgewater on Wednesday, April 22, 2026 after a brief illness.

Mary was born on September 3, 1953, in Halifax, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Ruth (Redmond) Fultz.

She is survived by her loving brothers and sisters-in-law, Joe (Marilyn), John (Karen), Stephen (Audrey), and Peter (Mary); nieces and nephews, Joey, Brendan, Matthew, Emily, Caleb, Noah, Luke, and Tabitha; and great-niece Annabel.

A graduate of Mount Saint Vincent and St. FX Universities, Mary spent much of her career working as a teacher at the Nova Scotia Training Centre in Sydney and public school systems in her home province and Ontario. Later she managed adult group homes in Ontario. Her career was dedicated to teaching, supporting, and improving the lives of our most vulnerable individuals.

Mary was an awesome big sister and aunt. She had a big heart and always saw the positive in people. She took great interest in the lives of her nieces and nephews. When she shared their latest adventures and accomplishments, her pride and love for them was as clear as the smile on her face and sparkle in her eyes.

She loved nature and the outdoors, especially Cape Breton Island and the beauty of Nova Scotia’s beaches and coastline. She believed in our collective responsibility to care for the environment long before it was a trend.

At Mary’s request, there will no visitation or service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Mary to the Canadian Cancer Society or a charity of your choice. To honour her kind heart, please consider performing a random act of kindness or enjoying a walk in nature.

Arrangements entrusted to Sweeny’s Funeral Home, 35 York Street, Bridgewater, where online condolences and messages may be made by visiting www.sweenysfuneralhome.com.
