Wendy Jane Mayo

With heavy hearts, the family of Wendy Jane Mayo, 73, of First Peninsula, announces her passing on Wednesday, April 15, 2026, at her home. Born in Lunenburg, Wendy was the daughter of Frank Leslie and Margaret (Nichols) Comstock.

Wendy was a familiar and beloved face at the Lunenburg Town Hall to start her career. She took immense pride in her work, dedicated to serving her community and supporting the residents of the town she called home. Following her tenure with the town, she was not one to remain idle and started volunteering at the Lunenburg Curling Club.  She remained active at the Curling Club whether playing or volunteering for most of her adult life.  While she enjoyed the Curling Club in the winter, in the summer she enjoyed golfing and spending time with her family at her cottage on Big Lake Mush-A-Mush.  Later in life she worked as a designer for Windbag Company of Nova Scotia, which operated out of the Town of Lunenburg. Her work there allowed her to blend her industrious spirit with her love for local craftsmanship.

Wendy’s greatest joy was her family. She leaves behind her daughter, Karli Mayo (Philip Latal) of Toronto, and her son, Shamus Mayo of Lunenburg. She was the proud grandmother of Pippa and Zoe Latal, and a dear sister to Cris Comstock. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Kevin Mayo (2020), sister, Jill Comstock-Smith (2018), as well as her brother, Peter Comstock (2013).

In keeping with Wendy’s wishes, cremation has taken place and a celebration of her life will be held at a later date when all the family can be together. Arrangements have been entrusted to Personal Care Cremations and Memorial Services.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Wendy’s memory to the Fisherman’s Memorial Hospital Auxiliary.
