Open Hike at Chester’s Newest Gem, Castle Rock

Some know about it, and others don’t.

Either way, it’s a brand new destination and the newest gem within the Municipality of Chester and if you love the outdoors, then it’s definitely a place to see.

It used be privately owned land, but now Castle Rock is a public open space with incredible views of the surrounding area.

In fact, Gord Tate, Active Living Coordinator for the Municipality of Chester, says the views are really something worth seeing.

“When you’re standing on top of Castle Rock, you have a panoramic, three hundred and sixty degree view of Mahone Bay, the Aspotogan Peninsula and on a clear day you can see all the way over to Blue Rocks at the southern end of Mahone Bay near Lunenburg,” says Tate.

The Municipality is inviting the public to come out for an open hike day, a sort of grand opening, Saturday, May 5th.

“Between the hours of 10 o’clock and 2 o’clock at the trail junction which is about 3 kilometres north of Highway 3 where the trail leaves the rail trail and heads up toward Castle Rock, we’ll have staff stationed there,” adds Tate.

It’ll be the first real grand opening of the trail as a public use land, now owned by the Municipality of Chester.

The public is invited to an ‘Open Hike’ day on Saturday May 5th, 2018, from 10am until 2pm.
